The Best Packing List for Your Alaska Cruise

• Short & Long-sleeve shirts: Alaska has changing temperatures any time of year. Short sleeves are great for warmer months like July and long-sleeves are great to have in case it gets chilly.

• Sweater: This adds a bit more warmth without giving too much bulk to your wardrobe.

• Lightweight windbreaker: This is great for light rain and windy days. Also can be good for excursions and added layers.

• Warm waterproof jacket: If taking a wildlife tour or seeing glaciers, it can be beneficial to have something waterproof. This piece can also be an added layer for chilly days.

• Outdoor shorts: Believe it or not, Alaska does get warm! Enjoy the warmer weather by bringing a pair of shorts just in case.

• Wool or water-wicking socks: Keep your feet warm and dry by bringing a nice pair of socks. 

• Waterproof shoes or boots: These are essential for rainy days and excursions. Bring a pair that is comfortable and easy to clean after a long day of hiking or other outdoor activities.

• Heavy Parkas: Alaska gets cold but don’t bring your heavy snow parka! This can take up a lot of space in your luggage and it’s not super necessary. 

• High Heels: We recommend skipping out on the tall high heels for your trip. They aren’t appropriate for ports with tricky walkways or slippery shipdecks.

• Too many jeans: Since you may get wet on your cruise with rain or excursions, opt out of bringing a ton of jeans. They tend to hold water and can be uncomfortable in some situations.

• Expensive jewelry: Avoid risk of loss or theft during your excursions.
